The Ambassador of Norway to Nigeria, Mr. Jens-Petter Kjemprud, was shocked on Wednesday after touring the demolished Otodo Gbame community in Lekki area of Lagos.

Bulldozers raced to the water front community on Friday March 17 and demolished hundreds of houses, leaving about 5, 000 already impoverished people homeless, including a baby that was born last Sunday.

Ambassador Jens-Petter Kjemprud told THE SIMON ATEBA TV that he was “shocked” at the “unbelievable level of destruction” he saw.

He said he came to see things for himself and had hoped that a peaceful resolution would be found after a court order in January.

He rode on a boat to see the community from the water. A personal account of that ride by SIMON ATEBA is to be published later today.
