A luxury bus from Enugu state filled with passengers has crashed into the lagoon in the commercial city of Lagos killing the driver and at least two others. At least 48 passengers were rescued.

The incident took place at Owode,  Ikorodu area of Lagos on Friday. It involved a GUO bus.

Nigerian newspaper, The Punch, quoted the spokesperson for the National Emergency Management Agency, South West zone, Ibrahim Farinloye, as saying that three people, including the driver have been recovered dead while 48 were rescued.

He said although the accident occurred around 3am, search and rescue was ongoing as of 9am.
