Nigeria’s acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, has taken charge of the country in recent days with visits to the oil rich but impoverished Niger Delta region, a meeting with angry workers, and a slew of other activities.

On Wednesday, Mr. Osinbajo presided over the Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja with those in attendance taking a second look at him.

President Muhammadu Buhari is alive but on medical vacation in London, and reports had suggested that he may be there for many months, opening up the possibility that Mr. Osinbajo may replace him.

But the Presidency has said that Mr. Buhari was hale and hearty and rumours mongers would be dealt with.

In recent days, many had been wondering if Osinbajo, who was handpicked by Bola Tinubu, could be trusted to lead Nigeria out of recession and fight corruption as well as Boko Haram in the Northeast.

Below are the pictures taken at the FEC meeting today in Abuja where prayers were believed to have been said for President Buhari.
