Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari is currently meeting with leaders of the National Assembly in the United Kingdom where he is on medical vacation, a newspaper reported on Wednesday evening.
Nigerian newspaper, The Punch, said the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; and some principal officers of the National Assembly are currently in the United Kingdom to visit President Muhammadu Buhari.
Mr. Buhari left Nigeria on January 19 for his annual leave. He promised to resume work on February 6. But on Febrary 5, Mr. Buhari informed the National Assembly that doctors had asked him to stay back and complete his tests.
He did not say when he would return and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has been acting since then.
Reports said Mr. Buhari may spend many months in London, opening up the possibility that Mr. Osinbajo, a Christian from the South may replace him.
President Buhari, a Muslim from the north beat Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 and his first term is supposed to end in 2019.
