Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday vowed that the opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP, will get its power back, saying the PDP remains the biggest party in Nigeria.
Mr. Jonathan said once the PDP is able to “put its house in order”, it will get power back. “PDP will do better in 2019,” he said.
Mr. Jonathan was meeting with the Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the PDP in an attempt to revive the dead party two years to the general elections in 2019.
The aim, the meeting said, was to revive the party and beat President Muhammadu Buhari’s All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2019.
The meeting of a select members of the Strategy Review and Inter Party Affairs Committee with the Former President was led by Professor Jerry Gana.
The Committee presented the report earlier submitted to the National Caretaker Committee to the former President.
The meeting was happening even as President Muhammadu Buhari who beat Jonathan in 2015 remains in the United Kingdom for his medical vacation.
Mr. Jonathan said for Nigeria to be great, it must build strong institutions. He said the PDP should be all the about the people and solve its internal wrangling. You can watch the full video below.
