Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau

A man was killed on Monday morning in Cameroon and several others injured following an attack by Boko Haram, a newspaper has reported.

L’Oeil du Sahel newspaper said three persons were injured when Boko Haram terrorists attacked the locality of Ouro-Moussa Kambo in the district of Fotokol in the country’s far north. Fokotol is located not far from the border with Nigeria.

The attack took place at 3 o’clock in the morning, the newspaper added.

Boko Haram has killed many people in recent weeks in Cameroon and Nigeria as it tries to regain lost territories. Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari declared last December after the sect’s headquarters in the Sambisa forest fell, that Boko Haram had been defeated.

But the threats remain and many people are being killed via suicide and gun attacks. Last week, a Cameroonian army General, a Colonel and two others died in a helicopter crash in the war zone.

The government said it was an accident but an investigation has been opened.
